This week was spent figuring out the code needed for developing a drag and drop interface. This will be incorporated through Flickr to save storage space. I have been experimenting with the tutorial here.
I also met with Christian to discuss our presentation this Sunday.
All of this took about 5 hours for the week. I’m a [...]

This is a week of general fixes - we’ve got most of the functionality all the way there, but we still need some.
This week I have knocked out several of these fixes.
At the top of the list was something that’s been nagging me for a while: The rotating banner. Previously, it didn’t really look as [...]

This week I’ve completed the last (hopefully) remaining html/css tasks:
http://derivativ.net/pavel/story_comments.html
(I made the comments section expand on click with js. Same for “New Comment” box)
http://derivativ.net/pavel/messaging/index.php.html
For whoever is going to put it all together:
Additional css for the comments is in the pavel/css/story.css file in the /*comments*/ section. js is in pavel/js/story.js
For the inbox I couldn’t find just [...]

I created a MySpace profile page for Derivativ here.

I created a Twitter page for Derivativ here.
Flickr:
At our meeting with Troy, he suggested we investigate Flickr as an avenue for uploading images, thereby freeing up or server space. We wanted to look into the API and see if we would be able to code a drag-and-drop [...]

This week we were warned that we really needed to step it up a notch and get ourselves in gear for finishing up this project in time.
What really fell behind was our keeping up with a gantt chart. We hadn’t reworked the gantt for awhile, and it was really beginning to show in the work [...]

This week after the Gantt I was assigned to work on promoting Derivativ.
I focused more on promoting on-campus first, and so went to speak to student services. They were not available, so I just obtained a form from Drexel’s page to follow their guidelines and restrictions on posting flyers throughout campus. [...]

This week has been all about presentation for me, and that’s the way that I like it.
The first thing I’ve taken care of is about 95% done at this point: It’s a quick and dirty (that is, to use - figuring it out was more difficult) function for displaying user’s avatars around the site, with [...]

The first thing I did this week was look into a facebook api if it comes down to it that we need one. It really doesent look that hard. There is great documentation online, and some really good tutorials that I found that were made by the facebook team. I’ll post the link here: http://developers.facebook.com/get_started.php
I [...]

This week I’ve created css and html for story creation page, featured authors and stories:
http://derivativ.net/pavel/story_creation.html
http://derivativ.net/pavel/featured_authors.html
http://derivativ.net/pavel/featured_stories.html
I also made a layout for the inbox section of profile:
http://derivativ.net/pavel/images/inbox_layout.jpg
And I wrote my primer story:
http://derivativ.net/pavel/derivativ_primer.txt
(yeah, its a little surreal)
The html/css took about 4 hours, the layout for inbox took an hour and the story took about and hour. So altogether [...]

Since Monday I’ve put in another 30 or so hours of work. Since we’ve now built a lot of new pages, my main goal this week was to scan the entire site and make sure we had no more completely broken links. There are obviously still some links we left with the default [...]
